Gülca lives in a women's shelter separated from her husband in Waldshut-Tiengen in Baden-Württemberg.

On January 5, 2017, she meets her ex-husband on the street who has located her mobile phone. She flees to a courthouse. The perpetrator runs after her and stabs her in the back with a knife. At first he leaves, about an hour and a half later he is arrested at his parked car.

The victim is seriously injured, goes to the hospital and survives. There have already been reports of threats. The family had lived in Heilbronn and most recently in Ludwigsburg.

In June 2017 the trial before the Regional Court of Waldshut-Tiengen begins. In July, the offender is sentenced to 5 years and 4 months imprisonment for attempted manslaughter. The sentence also includes coercion one month before the offence. Gülca is not the woman's real name.
