Little is known about this case. A couple from Eritrea live in Titisee-Neustadt in Baden-Württemberg. The wife wants a divorce (or is divorced), the husband does not want to accept it. On July 25, 2022, he kills her with 4 knife stabs in the flat they share. The next day he is arrested by the police at a clinic in Neustadt.

In December, the perpetrator is sentenced to life in prison for murder by the Freiburg Regional Court. The names are not known, at one point the perpetrator is said to be from Gambia. It is also possible that the woman is not from Eritrea, but only has an African father. There is also no information about children.

What is an honour killing?

An honour killing is a murder in the name of honour. If a brother murders his sister to restore family honour, it is an honour killing. According to activists, the most common reasons for honour killings are as the victim:
