Is this an attempt at honour killings? To answer this question, you need to examine the motive. Because the motive of the murder makes whether it is honour killings or not.

In the courtroom, the perpetrator mentions frustration as the motive. If that's his motive, it's not an honour killing. Are there indications that another motive was involved?

Here is the story, as far as known: Tolunay is training to become a hairdresser. His parents are divorced, the respective families are divided. That is why there are arguments in the run-up to the wedding of Tolunay's cousin in Bad Soden, who has to come to the wedding of Tolunay. Tolunay goes despite the fights.

There he meets his sister's friend, Anthony C. He stabs him. If he does it out of frustration, it's not an attempted honour killing. If he does this because his father disapproves of his daughter's relationship with the victim, the case is not so clear. It is quite possible that the father has urged his son, because suddenly Tolunay shouts: "I stab that son of a bitch" and goes loose on Anthony. He was a German-Pakistani political candidate and a Christian. The perpetrator's family are Muslims from Turkey. Tolunay stands out in captivity, because he roars around and curses himself for not having killed Anthony. In January 2016 the trial starts at the district court Frankfurt/M.

At the court Tolunay says that he regrets everything and that his deed has nothing to do with honour. He was only worried about his father. That may be true, but the question remains why he didn't go after his father.

The next lecture, however, is also conceivable: Perhaps the perpetrator was trying to regain his father's respect. Perhaps the father suggested that Anthony should be murdered. Then it would certainly be an attempt at honour killing. In this case it can be assumed that the perpetrator later denies his honour motive in court because he wants to protect his father. Otherwise, the father would be considered an instigator. The verdict is unknown.
