On August 14, 2013, Cemil shoots his daughter Hatice. However, he may have wanted to kill her mother (i.e. his wife) and the daughter came to her rescue.

Neighbors hear the shots and call the police. Hatice dies, the 45-year-old mother Münewer fights to survive in hospital. Only after a week she is out of danger.

Cemil flight with a taxi to the airport of Amsterdam and leaves for Turkey. An international manhunt is organized. He is known to the police for domestic violence and is considered "very dangerous". Two weeks before the crime, the police had evicted him from the apartment. Cemil then moved to the back room of a Turkish tearoom.

The family had an ice-cream parlour, the daughter wanted to train as a confectioner. De Bild newspaper writes that she wanted to move and study. There are 2 other daughters (12 + 22 years old) who are not at home at the time of the crime.

Three months after the crime, Cemil is arrested at a passport control in Turkey. Apparently he wanted to leave for Georgia with forged papers. This led to the officials discovering the international arrest warrant. Turkey does not extradite its citizens.

Cemil will be brought before a Turkish court. The trial reveals that he deliberately and intentionally shot both women. In April 2015 he will be sentenced to 37 years imprisonment.
