On July 23, 1981, 15-year-old Isa shoots his sister six times while she is lying in the maternity ward of Bietigheim Hospital. She drags herself to the corridor, collapses there and dies. A few hours later, the perpetrator is arrested.

In 2015, a journalist is investigating murders in the Ortenau district on the border with France. His list includes a single sentence about the year 1982: "On June 9, a 52-year-old asylum seeker in Rheinau shot his former German partner with a gun out of jealousy."

Abdullah Yakupoglu comes to Germany in 1964 as a laborer and five years later brings his wife and three small daughters. The girls are trained as hairdressers. The youngest is devoted to her father and marries a Turk he has chosen.

Malika's father Abdeslam Ben Ayade came to Frankfurt from Morocco in 1971. Nine years later, the Berber carpet weaver brings his wife Mimouna and their then six-year-old daughter. The father soon starts drinking and kicks his wife and daughter out of the house.

Sashu and Hangambes Tesfamicael live in a small Eritrean colony in Kassel. Both have children from their first marriage, plus a son together. There are huge marital problems. Tesfamicael accuses his wife of prostitution, says a newspaper, which probably means he calls her a whore.

Ali is married to Filiz and wants a divorce. Her family sees her honor tarnished by this. She orders Filiz's 15-year-old brother to kill Ali. In a fully occupied four-person room at Geislingen District Hospital, the young man stabs his brother-in-law.

It is West Germany in the mid-1980s. Nobody is talking about honor killings. This is a particularly serious case, but it is difficult to reconstruct the details today. In January 1986, 14-year-old Kemal shoots his 17-year-old sister to death on the street in Heidenheim.

Abdulbahri has lived in Germany since 1981. On July 11, 1988, he stabs the widow Kübra Yilmaz to death. One of her two sons finds the body. The murder initially remains unsolved. In 2002, Abdulbahri goes to prison for two and a half years.

In April 1988, Martina and Taleb married. They have a daughter and a son. There is a crisis since last 1992, Taleb mistreats his wife. Martina wants to divorce him after four years of marriage. Taleb does not want to accept this. An argument ensues in the shared apartment.

Perpetrator: So far there has been no trial. The then husband was questioned, but there was no strong suspicion against him.

In March 2007, Riza Kurt, a Turk, was questioned for several hours by Berlin police. He had reported his wife Kevser missing in August 1992 (i.e. 15 years ago). The homicide department had launched an investigation, but had not even found the body.

Perpetrator: her father Ali (probably together with two cousins). He was granted German citizenship before the murder was discovered.

In 1993, Waffa's father and two of his cousins strangled the 17-year-old because of her allegedly inappropriate lifestyle. To cover up the girl's disappearance, the father writes a letter to the youth welfare office in Bonn saying that his daughter has moved.

Kristin was adopted from Canada and lives with her new parents in Berlin. When she is 16, she falls in love with Aydin, who is eight years older. After no more than a year, he starts beating her. He allegedly beat his ex-wife as well.

In 1994, Hers comes to Germany as a 23-year-old asylum seeker from Iraq. His 17-year-old sister is married off to the Iraqi Yazidi Hassan in 1995 as a second wife in Hanover. So her brother brings her to Hanover as an import bride from Iraq.

You can read this murder as an honor killing - or as a murder to cover up abuse. The story: At age 17, Hatice's mother Ayse is forcibly married off in Turkey to Ramazan (presumably a cousin), who is 7 years older.

Omar marries Majidi, who is 17 years younger. She divorces him. Presumably there are children from the marriage, but nothing is known. Omar does not want to accept the divorce. He stabs Majidi to death at her sister's wedding at the Bramfeld Music Hall in July 1996.

Khawla is one of nine children in a Jordanian family. She grows up in Germany and is probably well integrated. Her father Mahmoud promises her to a man in Jordan whom she does not know. Khawla, however, falls in love with an Italian named Raffaele.

Saskia is 20 years old and pregnant. The father of the unborn child is believed to be her boyfriend Fadi, a stateless Palestinian from Lebanon. On August 6, 1998, he strangled her. For this, he was sentenced to 12 years in prison by the Berlin District Court.
