Tatjana S.

stabbed to death: August 6, 2020
Residence: Plateau's (Bavaria)
Provenance: Victim: Germany; Perpetrator: Afghanistan

In February 2013 Shahiq will come from Afghanistan to Germany. Since 2015 he is together with Tatjana, in November 2019 they will have a baby together. Presumably this will have a positive effect on his status, his asylum procedure has not yet been completed. In the spring of 2020 they will split up, or rather, it will be an on-and-off relationship.

Shahiq works in a snack bar at a supermarket parking lot in Plattling, Bavaria (district Deggendorf, near Passau). On August 6, 2020, Tatjana will visit him in the evening with the baby. An argument arises. Shahiq stabs his ex-girlfriend 10 times.

Tatjana dies at the scene of the crime, the perpetrator is arrested there. The daughter comes under the care of the youth welfare, later she goes to a foster family. The murder weapon is found.

Questions about honour killings

  • refuses to cooperate in an arranged marriage.

  • wants to end the relationship.

  • was the victim of rape or sexual assault.

  • was accused of having a sexual relationship outside of marriage.

Human rights activists believe that 100,000 honour killings are carried out every year, most of which are not reported to the authorities and some are even deliberately covered up by the authorities themselves, for example because the perpetrators are good friends with local policemen, officials or politicians. Violence against girls and women remains a serious problem in Pakistan, India, Afghanistan, Iraq, Syria, Iran, Serbia and Turkey.
