Ayse, her husband and four children are refugees from Iraq. They live separated. Ayse had her first son when she was 16, which indicates a Yezidi forced marriage.

On 7 March 2016 she visited her ex-husband with the children. In the apartment assigned to him as a refugee, he stabbed his ex-wife with forks, knives and scissors. Neighbors call the police. Ayse goes to the hospital and dies there. The children are in the apartment at the time of the crime. Afterwards, they are placed under the supervision of the Youth Care Office.

The offender will be placed in pre-trial detention. His 25-year-old brother is also arrested because he "looked after" the children during the crime. They had to listen for 20 minutes to the screams of the mother in the next room. The two brothers first came to Germany with the eldest son, the woman later came to Germany with the younger children.

In June 2016 the trial at the Oldenburg court will begin. An interpreter will help to coordinate the two brothers. Both falsely claim that another man, an alleged lover of the woman, was present and that they had attacked the main perpetrator.

In the courtroom it is also said that the perpetrator told his wife for the deed that it was a family decision to kill her.

In August, the perpetrator is sentenced to 13 years imprisonment for manslaughter. The brother is sentenced to 5 years for complicity in manslaughter. The perpetrators appeal. This is rejected by the Federal Supreme Court in February 2017.
